I admire your selflessness in adopting children from a world away. One of my class-mates in highschool was an Asian girl who had been adopted to my very white hometown of Spokane. She seemed happy.
There are some people against transracial adoptions: a strong view at http://www.transracialabductees.org/ I don't really agree -- people are just people. I have no direct personal experience on how trans-continental adoptees turn out, but I'm sure its better than the life of deprivation they might have had otherwise. Race shouldn't be a barrier to kindness.
Basically, hats off to you. I'm going to follow your blog because I think what you're doing is really cool. I wish your family health and happiness
I like your perspective and seems you have an interesting and thoughtful perspective. I haven't posted much, just busy and recently moved back to the states - I will try to get more active. Yes, Spokane is very white, so it would be interesting. I am from Everett myself, a little more mixed - but in Denver we live in a mixed community and try to expose the little guy to all cultures including his own. I hope the long term effects are positive obviously. If you haven't already I would take a trip to Africa - its amazing to see true poverty!
thanks for the positive comments!
